Since my last post the following has happened:

*Silver was around $18/oz. and now hovers around $33/oz. - That is an astounding 83% increase in less than a year

*Gold was just over $1250/oz. and is now over $1400/oz. - That is an increase of 12% in less than a year

*Our government printed almost $1 trillion out of thin air with QE2 or Quantitative Easing Round 2 which was nothing more than yet another bailout - Source

*Home values continued their downward trend from 12/09 through 12/10 falling an additional 2.4% - Source

*Countries around the world are calling to get rid of the U.S. Dollar as the World's Reserve Currency - Source

*The rate of inflation is up 2.7% since 2009 meaning your dollar gets you less. - Source

*Over the past year fuel prices are up 13.4% - Source

*Consumer pricing for goods was up almost one half of a percent in January 2011 with two thirds of that being food and energy. Since my last post in June consumer pricing on goods we purchase is up a total of 1.9%. Can you feel that at the grocery store? I can. These are government numbers so I am sure they are way off and most likely way too low. - Source

*The U.S. Unemployment rate that is being reported is supposedly at 9.0%. With so many numbers, charts, equations and overall BS, getting the real number of unemployed Americans is virtually impossible but I can guarantee it is nowhere near 9%. The official U.S. number doesn't include underemployed or people who have simply given up looking for lack of available jobs. They use the new and continuing unemployment claims as part of the equation to figure out the unemployment rate. What about those who have used all their benefits? How are they being counted?

*The number of Americans on food stamps in June of 2010 was 40.2 million. As of this writing there are now 43.2 million American citizens on food stamps according to government numbers. That means approx. 14% of our population is on food stamps and a 7.5% increase in less than a year of people struggling to eat. - Source

*In less than a month the U.S. Government will be faced with the option to raise the U.S. national debt ceiling. How interesting. I am almost 100% positive that our powers that be will raise this ceiling which will draw us even further into the black hole that is our debt. We borrow more to spend more with absolutely no way to meet our current liabilities. What happens if we reach the debt ceiling? "We can't borrow any more money to pay for our obligations. You move to a pure cash flow budget. We can only pay with bills that come in -- payroll taxes, income withholding, that kind of thing. But that's not enough money." The sad thing is, because of the way our government blows through money, there will be no choice for them to drag our country deeper into debt to fund all of the $738 billion dollars in liabilities we have and that is just through the rest of 2011. What about 2012 and beyond. It is unimaginable that we can continue on this road....default on our debts is unavoidable. Not if but when.

These are only a small % of what is going on in our country. As a majority of the population are dumbed down by Jersey Shore, American Idol, and all the other reality TV out there, they continue to lose site of true reality. The reality that our country is rotting from the inside out. That never in the history of our country have things been in more dire straights. An example of where peoples minds really are and how delusional our society really is? How about Ft. Worth spending $4.5 million in preparation for the 2011 Super Bowl. The largest budget for Super Bowl preparation in the history of the game. How about a fly over at the Super Bowl that cost American tax payers $450,000. These two examples are only a very small % of the overall costs associated with putting on the Super Bowl that a city, state and government must absorb for the festivities. All this while American citizens across the country can't feed themselves, are living in tent cities, are losing their homes and jobs in record numbers, states governments go bankrupt and can't fund the pensions owed to so many Americans that have spent their lives working for, and most importantly as our country goes bankrupt.
If you have the time read it start to finish. I don't agree with everything but I do agree with a majority. We are in real trouble with no real solution in sight!

America Following the Same Pattern as Rome

Daily Bell: How about America? How are America's finances?

Doug Casey: The era of one trillion dollar plus annual deficits is definitely here. And those are just the official deficits, which are going to be running a trillion or a trillion and a half dollars per year for the indefinite future. And on top of that you've got $100 trillion of unfunded liabilities of Social Security, the Medicare, the Medicaid. In a few years, you are going to have Obama-care, which is going to make the problem considerably worse. Then add on the probable federal bailouts of numerous bankrupt states like New York and California. And then hundreds of billions more for the FDIC, which is also totally bankrupt. Just like Fannie and Freddie. Then the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corp., will be hundreds of billions more – that hasn't hit the front pages yet.
Not a bag but one piece. What really troubles me about this in not so much the punishment that was handed out as extreme and asinine as it was, it is the fact that there is a state law banning minimal nutrition foods such as candy. This nanny government is trying to tell us what we can and can't eat as human beings and if we don't follow their rules, we will be punished. Where does it end and what are the limits? The law states that the school district will not control what parents choose to send their kids to school with but unfortunately for this young girl the candy was given by a friend. Yeah, show me a 9 year old who would turn down a Jolly Rancher and who the hell punishes a child with this kind of punishment for such a minimal offense. What gives any state or our federal government the right to dictate what we choose to eat. However indirectly or minor, this is more of the same....the eroding of our freedoms as a people and a country.
I for one am a firm believer that if a kid misbehaves and is indeed a problem.....paddle them. I got paddled more than once. Kids today respect no one including their own parents so why would they respect or obey school officials? It is now taboo to spank your kids in public or anywhere else without the risk of going to jail or being charged with child abuse....there in lies the problem....if the kid needs a spanking....then give them a good old fashioned spanking. Medicaid records in some states show infants less than a year old on drugs for mental disorders.
The use of powerful antipsychotics with privately insured children, aged 2 through 5 in the US, doubled between 1999 and 2007, according to a study of data on more than one million children with private health insurance in the January, 2010, "Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry."
I mean a lot. It seemed I was forever getting my ass spanked for something. My parents were true believers in "Spare the rod, spoil the child". Even though I had a childhood full of mischief and getting in trouble, I would never think to change my upbringing because I feel that I have grown to be a responsible and well adjusted adult and for that I thank my parents. I would never trade my spankings and corporal punishment for time outs and mental games. Today's children have zero respect for authority nor do they care who they hurt or when they do it. I am sure some of that can be contributed to more divorce and single parent homes but something has to be said for whipping your kids. Parents aren't allowed to do it anymore, schools quit paddling children for fear of the parents, etc. In my day, it didn't matter if we were out in public or in private, if I needed a smack, my mother obliged and didn't care who witnessed it. Today if you do that, you can expect the police to be called by some whiney ass liberals who happen to see you do it. Next thing you know you will have CPS at your door trying to determine if you beat your kids. I dare someone to tell me how to raise my kids....civilian, law enforcement or government agency....they would be met with their own smack and it would escalate from there. No one should be afraid of raising their children how they see fit as long as there is no neglect, mental or physical abuse. I wish more people would smack the shit out of their kids in public because quite honestly I am sick of hearing the screaming or seeing the misbehaved kids because their parents don't have a grip how to handle them. There have actually been times that I have thought about smacking the parent because it is ultimately their fault anyway. Their liberal failure to spank their kids when they need it only serves to ruin my meal or family outing when they are around....thanks, I will pass on that. Consider yourself lucky I don't spank your kid myself numb nuts.

If you ask any of my 6 kids what would happen if they make a scene in public and the answer would be unanimous. There would be a visit to the bathroom of whatever establishment we happen to be visiting. Once there, the discipline would commence however I see fit. Now don't get me wrong, I in no way beat my children but I do let them know that there are consequences to their actions.....and no it isn't time out. I love all my kids who range from as young as 2 to as old as 17 and that is the reason I light them up when needed. All of my children are well adjusted, respectful, get decent to great grades, do not get in trouble in school, do not do drugs, do not smoke, have not been sexually active and are overall very good kids. I would wonder how many of those parent who use timeout could say the same. None of them are overly aggressive towards anyone.....why....because they got whipped and they feared that and continued to do so as they got older. Don't get me wrong, whipping your children with out the proper love and compassion shown directly afterwords is not what is effective but if you whip your child and follow that with the positive attention and explanation of why, they will learn to understand and will respect you more in the future as they grow up.

How about these scientists and all the study's that say whipping your kids makes them more aggressive? Are you serious? They say you should put your child in time out and let them reflect on what they have done so that they can understand that it was wrong. Supposedly you can do this as young as 1 to 2 years old. I also wonder how many of these geniuses have a 1 or 2 year old running around and understand the attention span they possess or that any 1 or 2 year old does not completely understand right from wrong yet. How can you have them sit and reflect on what they have done....the sitting will last 30 seconds tops and the reflecting will be on when they will get their next cookie or what toy they can grab. What a bunch of morons these people are!! If they took the time to actually study what society has now become because people fail to discipline (spank) their children without positive reinforcement and love or they use timeout techniques, they would clearly see the error of their ways and that all their liberal BS they preach is rediculously flawed and outright wrong. Don't we have enough screwed up kids.....my advice, and I DO speak from experience, whip your kids when they need it but also back it up with positive and loving reinforcement. Don't buy into this BS timeout crap or ANY new age child rearing technique....it is flaky, doesn't work and is full of politics and errors. Bobby and Cindy will respect you more in the future because you were firm and loving at the same time.
In this episode I will try to point out the similarities of what scripture says about these changes. Some people may say that what we see today are nothing more than the natural cycles that the Earth may be going through and it may in fact be just that, but attention must be drawn to the matter none the less. Again I stress that this is only my interpretation of what I read/see and how I feel things may be falling into place. Let's begin:

Climate Change

Revelation 16: 8-9: And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

I can not say that I am sold on the fact that Global Warming is man made. The jury is still out for me considering Climategate and the so many differing opinions out there. Scientific data can be manipulated in either direction and truth is really difficult to find. Not to mention all the control the government is trying to enforce through regulation to make us more "green". When you introduce money and profit into any equation for people like Al Gore, it only increases the risk of dishonesty by the power hungry. With all the ice in Antartica and the ice shelves shrinking and disappearing as has been proven, it may be worth another look. I ask this, wouldn't this make sense? Is Global Warming what the verse above is referring too? I understand that Global Warming itself is not what is being described but is it more of a precursor? Nothing is currently being scorched but if things continue to heat up as is being reported, doesn't it make sense that scorching is a possibility? God's time line for events is not comparable to ours. The term Global Warming could be the build up to what is described in the verse above. Some say things have to take place before we reach that point and I don't necessarily disagree, but I do believe that we are starting to see the beginning of what is described in Revelation 16: 8-9. If this is a natural cycle and not man made, that is even more alarming because then it is out of our control....but is anything really in the control of the human race?

Famines, Pestilence and Earthquakes

Matthew 24:7: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Mark 13:8: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

Luke 21:11: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Let's first look at earthquakes. I have done a bit of research on the question "Is earthquake frequency on the rise?" and have determined it is a lot like the Global Warming debate. You can find scientific information to support both yes and no. Some of the difference can be contributed to the fact that technology has increased allowing us to better understand and monitor movement in the Earths crust in addition to our ability to monitor more locations at once. There are several hundred thousand earthquakes each year but most go unnoticed because they are either too small or in areas that are not monitored seismically. Six of the largest earthquakes ever recorded have happened in the last 50 years with 4 of those happening since the year 2000. That does not include the 2010 quake in Haiti which measured a 7.0. To summarize, 60% of the worlds largest earthquakes have happened in the last 50 years and 40% of those have happened in the last 10. That just may be a cause for alarm. As the Bible states, we will see earthquakes in divers places. The definition of "divers" is "many and different". Chile, Alaska, Sumatra, Haiti, Kamchatka, Ecuador and Tibet. Those are some of the places that have seen the largest earthquakes ever. Earthquakes that are 8.5 or higher. Though actual earthquakes may not be increasing in frequency (how can we really know unless we have every square inch of the planet wired), I believe they are in fact increasing in intensity. I believe by far that the worst is yet to come and it will take several more temblors of high intensity and many deaths to begin to reshape the minds of those who don't necessarily believe or refuse to.

Those people out there who refuse to believe need only pay attention to what goes on around them and do their own research to determine that things are different and seem to be getting worse. In my next installment I will address pestilence and the growing concern for pandemic and bio warfare and how it may tie in to Revelation.
Episode 2 Part 2 - Bugs Bugs Bugs - Someone Call for an Exterminator?Scott S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10712323756461301536noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-106833032839186869.post-35282318892220082352010-03-30T13:50:00.002-04:002010-03-30T13:56:33.083-04:00The World Today and Bible Prophecy....Episode 1 - Will War Kill Us All?I used to be a devout Christian and have done a lot of research and reading on the book of Revelation and the end times throughout my life. As a matter of fact, that used to be one of my favorite subjects and something I focused a lot of my Bible reading on. What actually ruined it for me were those who wrote the type of books I describe that made predictions by date on when and how thing would progress and when they would happen. Being that I have read a good majority of the Bible and several of these books, I am aware of Matthew 24:36 "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." When it came to the authors or "Biblical Scholars" predicting when these things would happen, they discredited themselves and almost all of them that are well known have done it. These people claim to be "Bible Scholars" and if this is true, they should know Matthew 24:36 and what it means. From Jack Van Impe to Hal Lindsey to Gregg Jeffery and many more.

What I do notice is most of the things that are happening in our world today are actually predicted in the Bible in some sense. Now I understand that a lot can be left to interpretation and determining if what is written in the Bible is literal or symbolic, you can't deny the obvious. This post will be the beginning of a series dedicated to identifying current world issues that correspond with Bible prophecy to help validate or at least get some thinking about what is really going on.

Wars on an Epic Scale:

Revelation 6:3-4: When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a large sword.

Mark 13:8: For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

Now I know that our history has been filled with wars and human suffering because of them but I don't believe there has ever been a time in history that the talk of war is more rampant and discussed daily. America is engaged in two wars currently with more on the horizon (Iran and North Korea) engaging in nation building and extending our Empire. The Middle East is nothing more than a war awaiting just the right spark and as our ties and communications with Russia and China continue to deteriorate, how long before we are militarily opposed by those two super powers? I would say not long as some accounts I read recently insist that we are currently surrounding both China and Russia in a circular pattern with our missile defense systems. There is military tension between the US and China concerning our decision to provide both military equipment and assistance to Taiwan. In addition, in a recent post it was determined that we are currently moving munitions and bombs closer to Iran in what seems to be a preparation to possibly attack that country as well. Israel is contemplating a preemptive strike against Iran to destroy their nuclear capabilities with the assistance of the USA. Wars between Israel and the Palestinians are ongoing and have been for years. Russia is aggressively trying to put the USSR back together by military force on its neighbors. And last but not least, you have the "war on terror" that seems to be bringing more and more countries to the brink.

Revelation 16:12: The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East.

As China continues to grow in size and stature in the world, one could only surmise that the above verse is describing that country. Throw in North Korea and maybe India and you get the point. The kings of the east will be a force to be reckoned with. China's economy will one day surpass that of the good ole USA and Europe and as their population grows and resources of the world grow more and more scarce, you can only imagine the option that will be left available. Depending on who you believe, we have already reached peak oil. Famine and drought are rampant throughout China and neighboring areas even though they boast one of the worlds largest economies. Will there be a flash point over resources in the future that will cause China's Red Army to march West in search of the resources needed to take care of its population or for land to house that same population? I cannot claim to know if things will happen as stated in any number of End Times books but this seems like the most viable scenario. The desperation of governments around the world to provide the basic necessities for their people will force wars on this planet like none that have ever been seen and they will continue to grow in frequency and consistency.

Again, I am not a practicing Christian by any means but I am a believer in both God and the Bible. The thing is, all you have to do is read the book and look at today's current affairs and draw your own conclusion. Whether you think the Bible is a good book of fiction and fairy tales or the literal word of God, common sense should tell you that something just seems odd about what was written and how it is mirroring the world today.
As more people wake up to the fact that our government is systematically erasing our freedoms and rights, you will begin to see more and more stories like this. I think violence will be the only language that these so-called leaders will understand. People are getting tired of the BS that comes out of Washington daily.

Another question I have is, why did Congress think it would be OK to pass a health care overhaul law that they themselves are not obligated to participate in? Why did our fearless leaders choose to exempt themselves from having to follow the same rules/laws they expect us to follow? The fear they have is justified and should grow as more people in this country say enough is enough!
Not only is Nobama raising taxes on the middle class to help pay for socialized medicine....he will in turn tax drug companies and equipment makers and they will in turn raise prices costing Americans even more money. How about these taxes:

Excise Tax on Uninsured Individuals – Individuals who fail to maintain minimum essential coverage will be subject to a penalty equal to $750. The fee for an uninsured individual under age 18 is one-half of the adult fee.

Excise Tax on High-Cost Employer Plans – The federal government would impose a 40% tax on the value of employer-sponsored health coverage exceeding certain thresholds. Those levels are projected to be $8,500 for self only and $23,000 for any other level by the year 2013. This excise was announced with fanfare by the White House and labor unions in January and remains in the final bill.

Increase in additional tax on distributions from Health Savings Accounts and Archer Medical Savings Accounts not used for qualified medical expenses – An increase from 10% to 20% on taxes of money in a health savings account not used for qualified medical expenses. For Archer medical savings accounts, an increase from 15% to 20%.

Additional Hospital Insurance Tax on High-Income Taxpayers – High income tax payers, making on a joint return over $250,000 and a standard return over $200,000, are required to pay an additional 0.5% of wages. This applies to both self-employed, and regularly employed individuals.

Fees on Health Plans – A fee applied to all health insurance providers based upon net premiums and any third party fees associated with the administration of those programs. The fees will total $6.7 billion annually. This figure begins at $8 billion in the Reconciliation Act and rises to $14.3 billion by 2018.

Tax on Indoor Tanning Services – The act imposes a 10% tax on amounts paid for indoor tanning services. Like a sales tax, the tax will be collected from the person tanning when payment for the tanning services is made.

Tax on individuals without acceptable health care coverage – A 2.5% income tax on individuals who do not have health care coverage, limited to a cost less than the average national health care premium.

Excise tax on elective cosmetic medical procedures – A tax of 5% is levied upon the am mount paid for any cosmetic surgery. This does not include the need for such surgeries created by trauma or a disfiguring disease. If the tax is not collected by that professional completing the procedure, their business is still liable for the requirement.

The Reconciliation Act also legislates for the following surcharges: 1% surcharge on individuals making more than $350,000, 1.5% surcharge on individuals making more than $500,000, 5.4% surcharge on individuals making more than $1 million.

Taxes On Employers – If you are a large employer (defined as at least 101 employees) and you do not want to provide health insurance to your employee, then you will pay a $750 fine per employee (It could be $2,000 to $3,000 under the reconciliation changes) (Section 1513).

Taxes on Pharmaceutical Companies – The government will extract a fee of $2.3 billion annually from the pharmaceutical industry (Section 9008 (b)).

Taxes on medical device manufacturers – The government will extract a fee of $2 billion annually from medical device makers (Section 1405).

Those who say this isn't socialized medicine do not recognize that this will come in steps. If the powers that be unleashed all this on the American people too quickly, they would have a mess on their hands like they have never seen. Stay tuned!Scott S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10712323756461301536noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-106833032839186869.post-62779581153103027782010-03-24T07:22:00.001-04:002010-03-24T07:24:32.988-04:00No Federal Money for Abortion? So instead of writing that "No federal money will be allowed to be spent on abortions" into the bill that was just signed by our fearless "leader" making it law, Obama decided to preform an Executive Order instead. Why? Here is why, as the USA becomes a more immoral country and the murder of innocent babies because they are seen as an inconvenience becomes more and more acceptable, the challenges to an Executive Order are much easier. It is easier to challenge an Executive Order in court than it is to challenge something that is written in to law. Rest assured that there will come a time when tax payer money will be spent on taking the lives of innocent babies because the parent(s) see them more as a chore or inconvenience rather than something that should be cherished. This Executive Order is more of the same smoke and mirrors that we are used to seeing come out of Washington from our elected officials. God help us all!Scott S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10712323756461301536noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-106833032839186869.post-75322402547157390642010-03-22T14:36:00.000-04:002010-03-22T14:36:56.348-04:00States Set to Sue Federal Government Over Health Care BillThis is awesome.....I hope all states get on board....FULL STORYScott S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10712323756461301536noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-106833032839186869.post-82761691383717006972010-03-22T13:38:00.001-04:002010-03-22T13:39:39.054-04:00Some Opinions on Our New Health Care PlanHe did it. Congratulations. Yet another step towards a socialized country. Some will say that reform was needed. I for one do not disagree that health costs are way too high but I will say that this plan is not beneficial for our country and will surely increase the speed at which we as a nation are moving towards bankruptcy? How about at the cost of even more freedom? What if I choose not to carry insurance because I have never needed it? That is my choice and right correct? What if I am 19 years old and I cannot afford to carry my own insurance? Well with this new plan, that right, choice or option no longer exists. You can choose not to carry insurance but you will pay dearly for it. How about 2% of your income. Not much to those who have it but what about those who don't?

Now there will be those sheep who defend their leaders and their government and who will remain perfectly content with our welfare society as they live in excess or are too concerned about what is on TV to take notice, but what they fail to notice is how quickly our nation is diminishing. Some sheep will sit by as death and imprisonment for dissension become the norm. The transition from our laborer society to our current totalitarian welfare society has been quick but still slow enough to remain under the radar for most of the populace. As more people grow accustomed to the hand outs from our government rather than working for something, it will continue to get worse. This health care plan is more of the same with all it's subsidies and tax the rich to give to the poor. I am not rich....not even close. I may be considered barely middle class but one thing I cannot stand are those people who sit and do nothing expecting it all to be handed to them instead of working for what they want and need. Why should those people who worked hard to get to a position where they are considered "rich" be responsible for the unmotivated leeches of our country? Don't get me wrong, there are those who do need help, I have been there, but the majority of those who seek assistance are nothing more than a drain on natural resources and people who refuse to do for themselves while those that have do for them. I say survival of the fittest and though that may sound coarse but when is enough enough? When did the people of the USA forget that you cannot benefit from doing nothing. Answer....when the people of the USA let the government decide for them.

As we continue to live in a world of excess, most have decided to exchange that money and excess for their rights and liberties. When did material things or money and the fear of losing them make it OK for them to usurp our freedom of choice, our freedom of speech or our freedom to bear arms? How about the freedom to decide if you want or can afford insurance? I don't need Big Brother to tell me what I need, when I need it or who I need it from just like I don't need them to tell me when and where I can smoke, how to raise or discipline my kids, that I need to take a flu shot, whether I can text or talk on my phone in my car, etc. Some may think that the freedom to choose whether I carry insurance or not is not affected by this plan but punishing me monetarily for choosing not to is control no matter how indirectly.Scott S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10712323756461301536noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-106833032839186869.post-14698391596998971082010-03-22T11:53:00.000-04:002010-03-22T11:53:29.373-04:00Things Will Only Get Worse! Here are a few truths about this new health care plan.......

Myth 1: This is a universal health care bill.

Fact: The bill is neither universal health care nor universal health insurance. According to the Congressional Budget Office:

Total uninsured in 2019 with no bill: 54 million.

Total uninsured in 2019 with Senate bill: 24 million.

Myth 2: Insurance companies hate this bill.

Fact: This bill is almost identical to the plan written by AHIP, the insurance company trade association, in 2009. The original Senate Finance Committee bill was authored by a former WellPoint vice president. Since Congress released the first of its health care bills on Oct. 30, health care stocks have risen 28.35 percent.

Myth 3: The bill will significantly bring down insurance premiums for most Americans.

Fact: The bill will not bring down premiums significantly, and certainly not the $2,500 per year that President Barack Obama promised during his campaign.

Annual premiums in 2016: status quo / with bill:
Small group market, single: $7,800 / $7,800
Small group market, family: $19,300 / $19,200
Large group market, single: $7,400 / $7,300
Large group market, family: $21,100 / $21,300
Individual market, single: $5,500 / $5,800
Individual market, family: $13,100 / $15,200

(The cost of premiums in the individual market goes up somewhat due to subsidies and mandates of better coverage. The CBO assumes that cost of individual policies goes down 7 to 10 percent, and that people will buy more generous policies.)

Myth 4: The bill will make health care affordable for middle class Americans.

Fact: The bill will impose a financial hardship on middle class Americans who will be forced to buy a product they can't afford to use. A family of four making $66,370 will be forced to pay $5,243 per year for insurance. After taxes and basic necessities, this leaves them with $8,307 in discretionary income -- out of which they would have to cover clothing, credit card and other debt, child care and education costs, in addition to up to $5,882 in annual out-of-pocket medical expenses for which families will be responsible.

Myth 5: This plan is similar to the Massachusetts plan, which makes health care affordable.

Fact: Many Massachusetts residents forgo health care because they can't afford it. A 2009 study by the state of Massachusetts found that:

21 percent of residents forgo medical treatment because they can't afford it, including 12 percent of children

18 percent have health insurance but can't afford to use it

Myth 6: This bill provides health care to 31 million people who are currently uninsured.

Fact: This bill will mandate that millions of people who are currently uninsured purchase insurance from private companies, or the IRS will collect up to 2 percent of their annual income in penalties. Some will be assisted with government subsidies.

Myth 7: You can keep the insurance you have if you like it.

Fact: The excise tax will result in employers switching to plans with higher co-pays and fewer covered services. Older, less healthy employees with employer-based health care will be forced to pay much more in out-of-pocket expenses than they do now.

Myth 8: The "excise tax" will encourage employers to reduce the scope of health care benefits, and they will pass the savings on to employees in the form of higher wages.

Fact: There is insufficient evidence that employers pass savings from reduced benefits on to employees.

Myth 9: This bill employs nearly every cost control idea available to bring down costs.

Fact: This bill does not bring down costs and leaves out nearly every key cost control measure, including:

Public option ($25 billion to $110 billion)

Medicare buy-in

Drug re-importation ($19 billion)

Medicare drug price negotiation ($300 billion)

Shorter pathway to generic biologics ($71 billion)

Myth 10: The bill will require big companies like Wal-Mart to provide insurance for their employees.

Fact: The bill was written so that most Wal-Mart employees will qualify for subsidies, and taxpayers will pick up a large portion of the cost of their coverage.

Myth 11: The bill "bends the cost curve" on health care.

Fact: "Bends the cost curve" is a misleading and trivial claim, as the U.S. would still spend far more for care than other advanced countries.

In 2009, health care costs were 17.3 percent of GDP

Annual cost of health care in 2019, status quo: $4,670.6 billion (20.8 percent of GDP)

Annual cost of health care in 2019, Senate bill: $4,693.5 billion (20.9 percent of GDP)

Myth 12: The bill will provide immediate access to insurance for Americans who are uninsured because of a pre-existing condition.

Fact: Access to the "high-risk pool" is limited, and the pool is underfunded. Only those who have been uninsured for more than six months will qualify for the high-risk pool. Only 0.7 percent of those without insurance now will get coverage, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services report estimates it will run out of funding by 2011 or 2012.

Myth 13: The bill prohibits dropping people in individual plans from coverage when they get sick.

Fact: The bill does not empower a regulatory body to keep people from being dropped when they're sick. There are already many states that have laws on the books prohibiting people from being dropped when they're sick, but without an enforcement mechanism, there is little to hold the insurance companies in check.

Myth 14: The bill ensures consumers have access to an effective internal and external appeals process to challenge new insurance plan decisions.

Fact: The "internal appeals process" is in the hands of the insurance companies themselves, and the "external" one is up to each state.

Ensuring that consumers have access to "internal appeals" simply means the insurance companies have to review their own decisions. And it is the responsibility of each state to provide an "external appeals process," as there is neither funding nor a regulatory mechanism for enforcement at the federal level.

Myth 15: This bill will stop insurance companies from hiking rates 30 to 40 percent per year.

Fact: This bill does not limit insurance company rate hikes. Private insurers continue to be exempt from anti-trust laws and are free to raise rates without fear of competition in many areas of the country.

Myth 16: When the bill passes, people will begin receiving benefits under this bill immediately.

Fact: Most provisions in this bill, such as an end to the ban on pre-existing conditions for adults, do not take effect until 2014.

Six months from the date of passage, children could not be excluded from coverage due to pre-existing conditions, though insurance companies could charge more to cover them. Children would also be allowed to stay on their parents' plans until age 26. There will be an elimination of lifetime coverage limits, a high-risk pool for those who have been uninsured for more than six months, and community health centers will start receiving money.

Myth 17: The bill creates a pathway for single payer.

Fact: Bernie Sanders' provision in the Senate bill does not start until 2017, and does not cover the Department of Labor, so no, it doesn't create a pathway for single payer.

Obama told Dennis Kucinich that the Ohio representative's amendment is similar to Bernie Sanders' provision in the Senate bill, and creates a pathway to single payer. Since the waiver does not start until 2017, and does not cover the Department of Labor, it is nearly impossible to see how it gets around the ERISA laws that stand in the way of any practical state single-payer system.

Myth 18: The bill will end medical bankruptcy and provide all Americans with peace of mind.

Fact: Most people with medical bankruptcies already have insurance, and out-of-pocket expenses will continue to be a burden on the middle class.

* In 2009, 1.5 million Americans declared bankruptcy.
* Of those, 62 percent were medically related.
* Three-quarters of those had health insurance.
* The Obama bill leaves 24 million without insurance.
* The maximum yearly out-of-pocket limit for a family will be $11,900 on top of premiums.
* A family with serious medical problems that last for a few years could easily be financially crushed by medical costs. SOURCEScott S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10712323756461301536noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-106833032839186869.post-15513786250399075582010-03-18T12:29:00.000-04:002010-03-18T12:29:50.211-04:00Are we looking at a third war now?We must be. It seems as though we are gearing up for a potential strike against Iran. In a move that can be seen as nothing less, the United States has shipped 387 "Blu" bombs to our military base on the island of Diego Garcia. Anyone who has any common sense has to understand that this would be a humongous mistake right now considering that we are already in 2 wars that are a major drain on our resources and military as a country. After the billions of dollars that have been drained by waging wars all over the planet since 9/11, why would we even entertain the thought of a third war. Empire Building? Regime Change? Oil? My guess is all three and my guess is that any attack on Iran would be disastrous for our country financially not to mention making our country look even better in the eyes of the world. Haven't we sacrificed enough of our young men and women in wars that should have never been waged? Wars started under false pretense and lies by OUR government for nothing more than nation building and natural resources.

“They are gearing up totally for the destruction of Iran,” said Dan Plesch, director of the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy at the University of London, co-author of a recent study on US preparations for an attack on Iran. “US bombers are ready today to destroy 10,000 targets in Iran in a few hours,” he added.

“The US is not publicising the scale of these preparations to deter Iran, tending to make confrontation more likely,” he added. “The US ... is using its forces as part of an overall strategy of shaping Iran’s actions.” - SOURCE
Does this seem familiar? Does anyone remember all the government propaganda preceding the Iraq war in 2003? All the WMD's that Iraq had and how they helped in 9/11. If you remember correctly all those claims were later found out to be completely false. Is this another instance of fear mongering to get an already war exhausted country behind their government....or do they even care how much public support they have this time because my guess is, there would be NONE.

When will we, the American people, decide that we have had enough of the lies and actions of our government and take action and find representatives that aren't in the pocket of large multinational corporations and bankers? It is time for a change....not just more of the same.
What is scary about this is there is absolutely no distinction between U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens in this bill. This is our government erasing our liberties and freedoms in the name of national security and fear mongering. This will give the U.S. military the right to detain American citizens without having to recognize their rights. What if you are detained by mistake? You have absolutely no recourse or rights and can be detained indefinitely.

This bills text is so broad that there is no determination or limits of who determines what exactly a threat to national security is. You could be perceived as a threat, detained, interrogated and held indefinitely with out any Miranda rights, rights to an attorney or speedy public trial.

What are the chances we could see this bill politicized and used to quash dissent? What this means is that anyone who speaks out against the government can be determined to be a threat to national security or the country. Are you a member of the 9/11 Truth movement? Are you a member of the Tea Party Movement? How about a war protester? Are you a Constitutionalist? This could go any number of ways. There only has to be one law enforcement official who believes you may be a threat and you will disappear, indefinitely.

This is yet another example of the kind of country that America is slowly becoming. I wonder how many American citizens even realize the potential consequences of a bill like this or more importantly, even know about or understand it. As most of America quietly watches American idol or Can You Dance, gets their nails done, focuses on mainstream media or some dumb housewives show, we are being stripped of every freedom and right that we have just to keep us "safer" Who will keep us safe from the government? Nobody but us!
Why is that even news....surely there are more important things to report. This is yet another indication of how the MSM is involved in the "Dumbing Down of America". Will there ever be an honest TV news station that will cover the news behind the news? My guess is no!Scott S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10712323756461301536noreply@blogger.com0
